This project was a whole house remodel and single story addition to an existing brick home. We salvaged the old bricks to apply to the front of the new addition. Remaining exteriors were finished with Hardiplank siding. To increase energy efficiency, all walls and attic were insulated, lighter color shingles were used for the roof and a high efficiency gas furnace and AC units were installed. A tankless water heater replaced the older, less efficient one.
We added 175 square feet to the living room and built a new 425 square foot addition with a master bedroom suite and bath plus a laundry room. The original laundry room was converted to a powder room and pantry. New closets were built in the 2 existing bedrooms and hallway. In the living room, we added 3 leaded glass windows to a knee wall to create a screen wall. All wood windows were replaced with energy efficient vinyl windows, All new areas were finished with hardwood floors and existing hardwood floors were repaired, sanded and finished to match the new ones. The den got a new brick fireplace and French doors that open onto the new deck. We tiled the walls and floors of the new bathrooms as well as the laundry room floor. Electrical and plumbing systems were upgraded or installed new throughout the house. New lighting and paint inside and out completed this project.
