Our clients wanted to remodel their basement and add a custom built bourbon bar made with salvaged oak whiskey barrel staves. First we had to replace the basement ceiling beam that was installed incorrectly with a spliced beam by a previous contractor. We opened the ceiling, removed the spliced beam and installed a continuous one from wall to wall with proper support. If you need to do this be sure to consult with a licensed Engineer first.
For the back bar, we built 9 feet of custom base & upper cabinets with raised panel doors & matching crown moulding across the top. Cabinets were then finished in dark espresso stain. Front bar was built with a knee wall & finished with the oak barrel staves in a basket weave pattern. We added a stacked stone back splash behind the sink & around the beer taps. Granite countertops in dark coffee brown were installed with an undermounted bar sink, and a 3 in 1 mini frig/wine cooler/ice maker with a keg cooler under the back bar. New lights in the upper cabinets finished this beautiful custom bar.
We remodeled the basement bathroom by removing everything down to the studs and framing a custom shower with shampoo niche & corner bench. Shower walls & floor were tiled in several shades of coffee colors, black, tan & ecru. An intact bourbon barrel was converted to a custom vanity cabinet with a rich mahogany, glass vessel sink sitting on a round granite top. Floor was finished in dark coffee brown tile.
